Hello, everyone! I’m back! I have some amazing blog posts planned. Well, they are planned in my head and I would like to get them up on the blog. Still, things may be a little slow getting started once again, so hang in there!

I actually wanted to post an even more amazing post today, but I decided it needed to hold off till some people in my life found out about it from me personally. Till then, I’m keeping it somewhat hush hush (unless you read my Twitter, then you can probably figure it out).

Plus, I have to wait for the photos to get to me.

Anyway, I’m back and ready to blog!

Busy busy busy

Hello every one. I’m sorry to say that I’ve let Lazy Lady fall by the wayside again. I’m so busy these days with wedding plans and work and family obligations that I just haven’t had the time to make the content I want for blog posts. So, instead of feeling guilty every day when I realize that I didn’t have anything to post again, I’m just going to officially take a blogging break.

I’ll be back sometime in May, after all the craziness has died down. I love all my readers, and I hate it when I have to take these blog-breaks, but that’s just life sometimes.

So until then…

Life is a balancing act. Trying to find that perfect balance between responsibilities and desires. It’s not an easy task and sometimes, I’ll be the first to admit, the balancing act wears me out.

Let me lay it out for you. I work 8+ hour days, 5 days a week. Now, I’m very lucky and love my job (most days ), but like everyone else who has full time employment, I spend most of days and hours at work. TGF works 8+ hour days, 5 days a week as well (sometimes more), and our hours don’t match up. He has to be at work for 7 in the morning and I have until around 9 to get to work. He gets off at 4:30, I get off at 5:30 at the earliest. Right now, however, our hours a bit more in line with each other. Since TGF is without a vehicle these days, I have to take him to work, but he doesn’t have a reliable ride home every day; so my boss, very graciously, allowed me to change up my hours Monday through Wednesday (Thursday and Friday are press days, so it makes it more inconvenient for me to leave earlier on those days). Now, I come in to work after I drop TGF off (usually getting in at 7:30) and leave at 4 in the afternoon to pick him up from work.

This temporary arrangement has allowed for one part of the balancing act to get a little easier, and that is to find more time to spend with TGF. Before, it always felt that by the time we were both home, all we could do was make and eat dinner and then go to bed. This lead to many fast food dinners, so we could spend more time hanging out together.

For awhile though, before my schedule shift, I had a pretty good routine going. I’d get up with TGF and then do my 5K training and clean up around the apartment. Nothing major, just do the dishes, make the bed and maybe pick up the clothes from the day before. It doesn’t sound exciting, but I liked my routine. Now, my life feel chaotic. I don’t know when to work out, the apartment stays in a constant state of chaos and filth and it is driving me crazy. It doesn’t help that I’ve got a wedding coming up!!

I’m trying to find balance. I’m just lost in the process.

You may remember that last year, TGF and I made a strawberry ice box cake that rocked our world (both in its simplicity and taste).

So, when I saw this recipe via Pinterest, I had light bulb moment. Why didn’t I think of this? IT’S GENIUS!!!

Ingredients:

• Milk
• Oreos
• Cool Whip

Dip the Oreos in milk. Just a quick dip!

Lay the Oreos in your dish.

Now, put a layer of Cool Whip over the Oreos. Repeat these steps till you reach the top.

We took the broken bits of cookies that were left over and crumbled them over the top.

You’ll need to let this sit in the fridge for at least 6 hours! We left ours over night. Y’all. If you love Oreos and milk, this is THE DESSERT for you. Enjoy!

Back in January, I decided to sign up for a 5k. Color Me Rad, to be exact. So, I got the 0-5k app on my iPad. I did pretty good for a couple of weeks. Then, I changed my schedule at work to help out with TGF being carless. So, I lost my time in the morning that I would do my training.

So far, I’ve yet to work in training in my current schedule. The race is fast approaching, and now I’m almost resigned to just walking the damn thing. :\

I’m bummed out. I can only think that if I can get up at 5 a.m. and do my training before TGF has to be at work, that will be the only way I can get back into it. When we get home, we never feel like training (TGF keeps saying “we can do it together after work!” but we never do). I still have two mornings a week that I can do it, but for some reason, I forget.

I’m serious! It’s not like I get home after dropping TGF at work and think “I could train OR I could just sit around and read this book and drink coffee.” I literally get back home and just grab my book!

Oh well. I’m still going to do the 5K. I just hope I don’t embarrass myself at it in May.

I made these monster and NPC pieces for our D&D game. I could have just as easily used pennies or just these glass gems as is, but I wanted my newbie D&D players to really get into the game.

What I used:

Supplies.

• Images I found via Google Images (thanks random people I’m not crediting because I didn’t get the information), printed out
• Scissors
• Glass vase filler rocks
• Mod Podge
• A red marker or pen (Sharpies bleed through the paper, so beware!) [not pictured because I am a dolt who had to run around to find one when I got to this step]

Cut out your monsters. Then, mark an X or whatever indicator you like to show that your monster has died in combat…if your adventurers are lucky!

Apply Mod Podge to the flat side of your clear glass gems.

Put your monster images on the Mod Podge, X side down. I like to then flip them over and give ‘em a good press.

Let them dry. It won’t take long, but I like to give them at least an hour, just to be sure. Also, see how you can see the X through the glass? Neat, huh? You could also make these the other way, but I found that the more intricate the art, the harder it is to see through the glass.

When they are all done and dry, I add them to the monster compote dish.

That’s it! I used this technique for a work of art I created in college (except you saw the images through the glass on that one). Happy DMing!

TGF and I like to do breakfast on the weekends. During the week, we are in such a rush to get to work we barely have time to make our coffees, much less breakfast. So, one day on the weekend we will go to our favorite breakfast diner, The Breakfast Club, and enjoy their delicious food stuffs. Sometimes, we’ll make breakfast. Sometimes we make breakfast for dinner. Let’s face it, it is a damn shame that so called “breakfast foods” are limited to one time slot of the day!

Anyway, I found this recipe on The Kitchen Life of a Navy Wife blog, and it just sounded so easy and delicious, we had to try it out!

Ingredients:

• bacon, all cooked up, as much as you like
• scrambled eggs, the recipe calls for 5 but I think we used 4 out of necessity
• shredded cheese, we used a mix of cheese (pre-shredded); again, the recipe calls for 1 cup, but in our house we don’t measure the cheese…we just us a lot of it
• 1 can of crescent rolls

Fry up the bacon!

Scramble up those eggs.

Undo the roll dough and lay it out in a “star” shape. Then, place your bacon around the inner circle of the dough.

Next, spoon the eggs on top of the bacon. Sprinkle (or COMPLETELY COVER) with cheese.

Fold over the tips and tuck them under to make a ring or wreath shape.

Bake according to the crescent roll container’s instructions and VIOLA!

This was so good, you guys. SO. GOOD. Go make one. Right now. Om nom nom nom.
